Nowadays, most of the cultures are considered as “disappearing”.
The answer of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO is to classify and “safeguard”. The raising emergency built around the fear of loss is handled through a fixed and sterilized way. The hyper need to value everything of a culture heritage leads to a complete opposition to the natural oblivion or — in parts — absence that memory usually generates.
Nonetheless, a common point between all beings, is to be shaped — during their upbringing — through what we can call transmissive moments.
This natural transmission that is performed in any culture, through common and individual rituals, allows a mechanism that continues and is passed on, with imperfection.
The project offers both a system and a wall, activated by a set of gestures.
It celebrates the people, the ordinary stories, the non wanted, the forgotten and the disappeared.
Architecture is here a vehicle of our oral expression and heritage. With one performative element from the body and one piece of architecture, cultural preservation can be tackled at a more personal and multiple level and applied across various cultures.
