Sequential Spaces Adapting to the Skier’s Pace

An architectural journey paced by rhythm and ritual.

The project reads as a sequence of spaces, each adapting to the skier’s movement — from the outside world to the warmth of home.

It begins upstream, where two enclosed garages and three outdoor parking spaces define the exterior. Between them lies an airlock: a buffer zone that offers both security and transition from exterior to interior marked by the wooden double door as the main entrance — warm, solid, welcoming.

The interior unfolds step by step:
  1. Ski Room
A column rack (round or oval) gathers skis, while walls are equipped to hold goggles, poles, and helmets. Materials evoke the mountain: gabions, raw concrete, and embedded textures.
  2. Shoe Room
A soft arch create a tunnel effect — a calming pause. A long bench, continuing from the ceiling, faces heated alcoves for boots. The space is intimate, like a spa carved in wood.
  3. Clothes Room
A functional yet gentle zone. A breathable wall divides it from the laundry room, optimizing warmth. Here, clothes dry or are collected. The design allows for dual access: from the garage or the upper floors. A curve layout allows hanging space; the program may split into two rooms — one for machines, one for lines.
  4. Music Room
A transparent space — with glass walls — connecting circulation and utility. It invites interaction, visibility, and rest, with armchairs set along the hallway. Walls open and close for flexibility.
  5. Skate Ramp Ceiling
Above, a skate ramp is embedded in the ceiling, introducing a surprising play of shape and movement — architecture that remembers to play.
